Seniors, Babies and Cars

Wow, it's kinda been a while since I've been on here. Hmm I should probably stay on top of that better. Things have been a bit slow on the photography side here, lately I've been matching socks and having coffee dates with other moms... what's not to love about that?? However, I've been learning an awful lot when it comes to editing, soaking up every book, video, magazine I can. Not just on editing though. I've been doing most of my posting on facebook. I've been making some logos for a couple friends and designing a school graduation invite to keep busy. I made myself a new logo and watermark to! I'm realizing that I really like graphic designing. Maybe I didn't take the right road out of high school when it comes to post secondary careers? Never too late to learn I guess! 

That dear old hubby of mine made me a backdrop holder, oh what a man... so romantic ;). Anyways, so I'm loving that! After some troubleshooting ( wrinkled fabric) we've finally got a 'studio' type setting. I parked my lil almost 6 month bean in my 'studio' and clicked away. She's so smiley it sure makes things easy. So when I think I must be the best ever at making kids smile I get asked to do someone elses kiddo I'm like ya for sure!! I tell ya, doing the same dumb sounds and goofy faces to someone elses kid instead of my own... they look at me like I'm some kook! Maybe I am? It's ok my daughter loves me for it :D! Long time no see.... Lets eat cake!!!

Oh my poor blog has been neglected! But since I've been gone I've been practicing! Practicing like crazy!! I'm getting better and better, I've also started a facebook page too! Yahoo for social media, and getting good publicity. I've done so many sessions last week it's crazy... and now I'm lonely, and bored. Yep bored, I have a 4 month old at home, a clean house, laundry's done and I'm bored! Anyone want some photos??? Shoot me an email if you live in or near Winnipeg MB!!! @ mmelaniereimer@gmail.com . I guess going from working full time to being a stay at home mom with just one pip squeak at home does that to ya. However the hubby ain't complaining I've been whipping up some pretty fancy and oh so delicious suppers. Low calorie and fat free of course ;) HA! Anyways here's some of what I've been working on in the last couple weeks! Got to do a fun, so messy, delicious cake smash with a cutesy little 1 year old... Happy birthday Mr. T!!

 Mmmm delicious, I was taking some pictures and , what... what was that?? Hmm, oh cake crumbs... yep in my hair. Haha this one was super fun! Would love to do a cake smash again, glad I didn't have to clean up though :P

 And as far as kids go, their pretty unpredictable... hmm maybe that's not the best word, how about fidgety? Antsy? Curious? So I went back a couple days later to try catch this little guy again. Except he learnt to walk since I last saw him... and I thought the week before was hard! Can you say super glue?? Anyways it was a ton of fun though!! Sure does help when your model is so cute :)

In Love

Oh my stars am I in love or what! Today I was fortunate enough to find a new lens on kijiji, new to me that is :). It was pretty cheap but it's kinda old, for an old lens though it's in immaculate condition! It's a 50mm and I've wanted one since I knew what the difference of lenses were! It is a manual lens which means that I can only shoot with it in manual mode, but hey for as cheap as it was I don't care! And it gets me shooting in manual more instead of aperture priority so I can get better... wahoo! So here's a couple shots I took of my little bean today with my new lens!

Avery's 3 Months!!

     Remember in school when you were learning about algebra and your teacher told you that a + b = c? I remember thinking what the heck I don't understand math and numbers as it is and now your telling me there's letters to? Give me a break!! Then I remember that feeling I got when I finally understood it! It was like some gears clicked and I had a new confidence that I would get 100% on my test! Ha ya right, I never got 100% on anything! There's a load of false confidence if ever, but on a happier more optimistic note, that's kinda how I felt yesterday (minus the self doubt and failing part haha, I'm starting to think this was a horrible example!).
     A girl I went to church with came over (I know what a great friend) and gave me a ton of pointers and instilled confidence in me for a shoot I have coming up, it's just of my nephew but I've never taken pictures of anyone else's kids but my own so there's no pressure and I don't expect much from myself then! So she came over and I fed her some broccoli cheddar soup (i felt so domesticated woot! haha) and we sat down and she went on about lighting and backdrops, explained about her favorite lenses and what she does when she goes for a shoot.
     Shes easy to bribe, a little food goes a long way! just kidding ;) It's amazing she was even able to come over because I worked shift work in ER and i know how chaotic schedules are! She so gave me some great criticism on my pictures I had taken of Avery before to! I also decided that if I want great bokeh shots and awesome portraits I need to invest in a 'nifty fifty' whooo good nerdy photography lingo eh? :)
     Anyways so I'm way more confident about my nephews pictures woop! And I'm going to try do some family shots of just my little family to hopefully!! Here's what I got for Avery's 3 month pictures!!

   

Date Downtown

     Well my little bean is 3 months old today, half way to solid food wahoo! Hubby took me out on a date last saturday, left our squirt with granny and gramps and we went downtown and I got to take a bunch of pictures again. It's great having him come to, he's a good spotter!

    We had ourselves some fancy coffee at some cafe and had a good walk around. Sure was fun being without the baby, don't get me wrong I sure was happy to see her when we picked her up but it's nice that I know that she can be away from me once and a while to for some non baby time, woot!And hey who doesn't like to spend time with just their hubby! And on a side note I'm half way through the shootflyshoot course! It's completely dumby proof! So great for me haha.
     I'd be out today if it weren't for the -40 weather we've got going on right now. I'll be doing some 3 month shots with my little nugget today so I'll have to post those when I'm done. Anyways here's what I got for the day!
